Lawn Treatments We Offer

Moss Treatment

Moss in your lawn will affect the health of the grass and increase the risk of diseases. If left untreated moss can colonise the surface of the lawn and the grass will start to disappear.

We spray a liquid iron treatment to control moss and recommend that this is applied twice a year; once in the autumn and then again in the winter. The iron also strengthens the grass plant and gives it a deeper green colour. We also recommend Aeration of the lawn once a year to develop a thick healthy grass plant that will outcompete the moss.

Weed Treatment

Similar to moss, weeds in your lawn will affect the health of the grass and if left untreated weeds can colonise the surface of the lawn and the grass will start to disappear.

We spray a professional selective herbicide that will kill the lawn weeds while leaving the grass plant unaffected. This would typically be applied at the start of a lawn renovation process or as a spot treatment as part of a regular lawn treatment programme. Non grazing pets such as cat and dogs should be kept off the lawn until the product has dried, typically 2-4 hours.

Fertiliser Treatment

To ensure your lawn grass is healthy and to give it the best chance of outcompeting weeds and moss it needs to be fed the right balance of lawn food throughout the year.

Our grass fertilisers change throughout the year and are based on professional organo-mineral slow release granular fertilisers combined with liquid fertilisers.

Aeration

It is important to aerate your lawn in order to alleviate soil compaction, which prevents proper air, water, and nutrient circulation in the soil. Soil compaction occurs when there is pressure applied to the lawn surface, typically this will occur over time from normal use of your lawn. Following the aeration process the lawn grass will become more healthy, this will make it less susceptible to pests and diseases and better able to outcompete the weeds and moss.

We use a hollow tine aerator machine to remove small plugs of soil from the lawn, this relieves compaction and ensures there will be enough small channels in the soil to allow air circulation, and water and nutrients to enter the grass root zone.

Scarification

It is important to scarify your lawn in order to remove thatch. Thatch is a layer of organic matter sitting between the soil and the grass leaf, it is typically made up of dead grass and the side shoots of certain grass species. When this layer becomes thick it will block the flow of water, nutrients and oxygen to the grass roots, this will weaken the grass leading to lawn problems like: weeds, moss and diseases.

We use a scarifying machine to rake the grass surface and remove the thatch layer, this then ensures that water and fertiliser treatments can reach the root zone.

Over seeding

Lawns that have suffered from the effects of drought, compaction and diseases will start to thin out and there will be bald areas, weeds and moss. Following other treatments to prepare your lawn we will then sow the correct grass seed to match your conditions and top dress with a thin layer of soil to ensure your grass seedlings germinate successfully.
